Our Purpose
Humanity's ingenuity has always raced far ahead of the needs it was used to meet, so man invented work. Human ingenuity allowed that we needed ever less of the former to achieve the latter. So much so we had to invent purpose for our lives: Wars, religion, science, the arts and, of course, family and fun. The devil found work for idle hands. The information age is poised to ramp up this metric exponentially leaving humanity at a purpose crisis point which News by Nature hoped to navigate when it started publishing in 2009. Election night 2016 took the essays, extrapolations and erstwhile wishes within these pages from distinct possibility to utopian. Nonetheless, the naivete shattered that night lives on and even shows green shoots emerging from the wreckage in a new technology-fuel possibility of maximal efficiency through zero waste of anything. News by Nature focuses on the waste of the most precious resource: the human mind. but most especially time. That is the singularity this website forecasts. It's a little tongue in cheek, I hope it can stay that way, given how it grows harder every day to trivialize anything. The editor.
